For the last several weeks, almost foretelling, Professor Beck desired to make this scholarship a reality upon having the idea planted by a former and grateful student. From this seed, he believed that it would be his greatest and most wonderful legacy if this scholarship was able to given in his name to provide support for students from humble origins to pursue an EHS degree at Eastern Kentucky University so that they would have the opportunity to be gainfully employed in what he called the "greatest profession in America". Professor Beck proudly advised students that this profession, Environmental Health Science, would enable a person to enjoy a career whereby they could spend a lifetime pursuing the noble and rewarding work of helping other human beings all while also being able to make a decent living.​

 

 

We now seek to make the dreams of him and his former student a reality. By giving to the Professor Joseph Beck Scholarship Fund, Eastern Kentucky University will be good stewards of your gifts. The university working with Sue Beck and the Department of Environmental Health Science will carry out his will and develop a scholarship program that reflects Professor Beck's wishes to provide opportunity to those most in need.
